about the program
Each One Teach One is a series of classes and workshops taught by practicing artists and professionals for attendees of all expertise levels in a peer-to-peer, inclusive environment. The program is comprised of four different creative courses, which are open for complete or individual enrollment: Photo/Video, Writing, Design, and Audio Production.
The entire program, which will be held every Sunday over the course of two months, is laid out to provide four classes worth of instruction for each course. Regular classes will resume in the Spring of 2019.
Each class will include regular hands-on instruction by professionals in each field, as well guest lectures by notable creative persons from San Diego and beyond. Along with lessons and lectures, enrolled students will also receive in-class access to hardware, equipment and otherwise expensive software utilized by professionals and industry leaders.

intro to photography
This class uses the advanced digital camera to build basic skills in students who have an interest in photography, but no prior experience. These skills include camera handling, composition, effective use of light, file management, digital image manipulation and developing a photographic vision.
INTRODUCTION TO IMAGE EDITING
This class includes topics about working with the tools and user interface, working with selections, retouching, correcting, and enhancing photographs, layer basics, masking, compositing, preparing files for the web, and more. Students learn through hands-on practice and a series of creative projects.
This class will give you the skills to take your videos from ehhh to top-of-the-line professional, and create memories for years to come. Compile multiple videos into scenes, add titles, still images, and slick transitions using the same editing tool that the pros used to edit feature-length films.
DEVELOPING YOUR SHORT FILM
This class will cover basic and in-depth methods on how to discover your process, channel your influences, develop your style and craft the story you need to make your short film into a reality. This involves storyboarding, intro to cinematography and working with / assembling a crew.
This class will teach you the fundamentals of music production, which includes sound design, basic song composition, the recording process and audio editing and mixing tips that will help you get on the fast track to producing professional music
BECOMING A SONGWRITER
This class will start with breaking down what it means to be a songwriter and the skills you need to succeed. We will review the fundamental concepts such as rhythm, harmony, melody, lyrics, and music notation. We will then dive into the business side of music and how to make a living as a songwriter.
starting a podcast
This class will teach you how to create successful audio content that fits within the traditional radio show / podcasting guidelines. Included in the lessons will be how to sift through data for a story, how to record and engineer audio and ways to turn audio content into web content, along with much more.
the art of djing
This class will cover all aspects of DJing, from the basics of setting up, which cables to use, and how to troubleshoot your gear, to basic mixing, beat matching, and more advanced techniques like telegraphing and turntablist practices.
THE TOOLS & FUNDAMENTALS OF
This class will cover how to explore and investigate visual representation through a range of image-making techniques through Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop; understand the basic principles of working with shape, color and pattern through; and understand and have applied the principles of composition and visual contrast.
Branding Your Business
This class will prepare students to design and establish visual identities and brand standards across a variety of mediums. The course will help the designer look beyond logo design and acquire a fundamental understanding of the aspects of designing a brand system that is scalable and replicable, regardless of application.
ux DESIGN & WEBSITE building
This class introduces the novice to a cycle of discovery and evaluation and a set of techniques that meet the user's needs. After delving into the fundamentals of user experience design, this class will also cover how to use Squarespace, from beginner basics to advanced techniques, with a guided tutorial led by an industry expert.
intro to print
This class will cover the basic processes used in photo emulsion screen printing and zine-making. We will review image preparation, coating, burning and printing techniques. Students will produce a screen print from start-to-finish, which they will print on their own fabric items.
screenwriting and writing for film
This class will teach you the basics of writing for film and television for anyone looking to put their movie / show idea into properly formatted words. It will also give you a beginning foundation for TV and film writing, demystify the language and process of writing, and give you the tools to begin turning your great idea into a real project.
This course is designed for people new to creative writing or want to write stories / poems but are unsure of where to start. Even if you are a regular writer with some core background knowledge, our writing exercises will help you gain new insights about yourself as a writer.
This class will cover the basics of successful blogging, including how to set up your blog, choosing the perfect platform for you, designing your graphics and brand, how to properly navigate through your website creation and how to create relevant content that can gain a sizable audience.
This class will cover the fundamentals of business writing, enabling you to define structure and sequence in the scope of a business plan and other formal documents needed to thrive as an entrepreneur. The class will also teach you how to focus on understanding the demands of different styles of writing in business.
