PHOTO / VIDEO

 

intro to photography

This class uses the advanced digital camera to build basic skills in students who have an interest in photography, but no prior experience.  These skills include camera handling, composition, effective use of light, file management, digital image manipulation and developing a photographic vision.

INTRODUCTION TO IMAGE EDITING

This class includes topics about working with the tools and user interface, working with selections, retouching, correcting, and enhancing photographs, layer basics, masking, compositing, preparing files for the web, and more. Students learn through hands-on practice and a series of creative projects.

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEOGRAPHY

This class will give you the skills to take your videos from ehhh to top-of-the-line professional, and create memories for years to come. Learn composition and the editing skills needed to compile multiple videos into scenes using the same editing tool that the pros utilize to create feature-length films.

CREATING YOUR own VIDEO CHANNEL

This class will teach you all the lessons needed to create a success YouTube or vlog channel. Lessons will cover beneficial YouTube practices that will help turn your hobby into a lucrative passion. You will be able to learn editing, content creation, and other lessons used by Pros and apply them to your own channel to see results.

 

AUDIO PRODUCTION

This class will teach you the fundamentals of music production, which includes sound design, basic song composition, the recording process and audio editing and mixing tips that will help you get on the fast track to producing professional music

INTRODUCTION TO AUDIO ENGINEERING

This class will focus on the ins and outs of audio engineering on a beginner level, including the specific duties of an audio engineer, the different types of work within the field, how to choose what gear is right for you, details on working with audio files, troubleshooting tips, and recording tips for professional studio sessions.

starting a podcast

This class will teach you how to create successful audio content that fits within the traditional radio show / podcasting guidelines. Included in the lessons will be how to sift through data for a story, how to record and engineer audio and ways to turn audio content into web content, along with much more.

the art of djing

This class will cover all aspects of DJing, from the basics of setting up, which cables to use, and how to troubleshoot your gear, to basic mixing, beat matching, and more advanced techniques like telegraphing and turntablist practices.

 

DESIGN

 

THE TOOLS & FUNDAMENTALS OF
graphic design

This class will cover how to explore and investigate visual representation through a range of image-making techniques through Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop; understand the basic principles of working with shape, color and pattern through; and understand and have applied the principles of composition and visual contrast.

Branding Your Business

This class will prepare students to design and establish visual identities and brand standards across a variety of mediums. The course will help the designer look beyond logo design and acquire a fundamental understanding of the aspects of designing a brand system that is scalable and replicable, regardless of application.

ux DESIGN & WEBSITE building

This class introduces the novice to a cycle of discovery and evaluation and a set of techniques that meet the user's needs.  After delving into the fundamentals of user experience design, this class will also cover how to use Squarespace, from beginner basics to advanced techniques, with a guided tutorial led by an industry expert.

intro to sign PAINTING & lettering

This class will cover the long and rich history behind sign painting, including the tools needed to begin the craft, as well as tips on how to gain your first clients once you’ve mastered your skills. With teachers that include some of San Diego’s most renowned sign painters and muralists, you’ll learn the steps needed to finally begin your new career in lettering and paint.

This class will teach you how to set financial goals, create a budget that works for you, and establish the habits that lead to financial health. You’ll learn how to make financial planning with creative ways to keep an eye on your budget, spending, savings, and investments.

This class will show you all the steps needed to begin a hobby and career as a professional event coordinator, whether it be live music events, art exhibitions, event planning, or more. The class will also lend a focus on tips to succeed within the events industry specifically within San Diego.

securing a creative career

This class will connect you with human resource experts and recruiters from San Diego’s top creative agencies to give you tips on how to spruce up your resume and work experience in order to become the perfect candidate for your dream position.

introduction to painting

This class will give students the opportunity to explore basic painting techniques while developing visual awareness and artistic self-expression. Topics include principles in two-dimensional art, choice and use of materials, mixing, and color combination will be studied through a variety of subject matter.
